Seminar Report : Separation of Overlapped Fingerprints

Separation of Overlapped Fingerprints

Fingerprint images generally contain either a single fingerprint (e.g., rolled images) or a set of non-overlapped fingerprints (e.g., slap fingerprints). However, there are situations where several fingerprints overlap on top of each other. Such situations are frequently encountered when latent (partial) fingerprints are lifted from crime scenes or residue fingerprints are left on fingerprint sensors. Overlapped fingerprints constitute a serious challenge to existing fingerprint recognition algorithms, since these algorithm are designed under the assumption that fingerprints have been properly segmented. So, it is important to separate overlapped fingerprints into component or individual fingerprints. The basic idea is to first estimate the orientation field of the given image with overlapped fingerprints and then separate it into component orientation fields using a relaxation labelling technique. Fingerprint singularity information can be utilized to further improve the separation performance.

FUZZY LOGIC BASED WATER SPRINKLER SYSTEM

FUZZY LOGIC BASED WATER SPRINKLER SYSTEM

Problem Statement

To control the amount of water flowing from a sprinkler depending on the air temperature and humidity of the soil

Introduction

Water demand already exceeded supply in many parts of the world, and as world population continues to rise at an unprecedented rate, many more areas are expected to experience this imbalance in the near future. So there is absolute necessity to prevent water wastage. In the case of water sprinkler systems, research is being done to use exactly the right quantity of water for irrigation purposes.

Seminar Report : 3D Technology

Abstract

Possibly the biggest commercial story in displays in recent years is the arrival of 3Dready TVs. Now that they have arrived, theres no stopping them. Researchers continue to pursue different approaches of active shutter vs. passive glasses technology, and glass-free viewing, which according to many experts is a major challenge that must be met in order to make 3D displays truly successful. In this seminar, the different types of 3D displays are reviewed as well as the technologies used in those displays are explained, many of which

are based on liquid crystal displays (LCDs). The upsurge of Autostereoscopic displays and its ease of use as compared to stereoscopic displays are also conveyed. Autostereoscopic displays combined with the parallax barrier method have a number of advantages, the most important being the ability to switch from 2-D to 3-D mode. The concept of Integral imaging is also gaining popularity which is also discussed in this seminar. Although some setbacks faced by 3D displays have been solved, the industry still faces a number of challenging problems which are addressed through this seminar.

Seminar Report : A New Super Wide Band Fractal Microstrip Antenna

A New Super Wide Band Fractal Microstrip Antenna

Modern communication systems require antennas with smaller dimension and more bandwidth. But if antenna size is less than a quarter of the wavelength, it will not be efficient for its communication purposes. Hence a reduction in physical size and multi-band ability are very important in design of ultra wideband antenna. Now fractals have self similar shapes and can be subdivided such that each daughter part is a smaller version of the parent part, means each part is a reduced size copy of the whole. The self similarity of fractals can be applied to antenna design for multiband and broad band properties. And also their complicated design leads to curves which have long electrical length but fit into a compact physical area, thus an antenna design with smaller size. Hence use of fractal geometry in antenna design provides a very effective solution for fabricating multi-band antennas with desired miniature size. And properties of a fractal micro strip antenna depend upon the parent fractal shape we used for its design.
